Hey Everyone,
For users of ULTIMate that want to use phrase translation or group chat functionality with languages such as Chinese, you will need to install the East Asian language pack onto your Windows XP system or respective operating System in order for the symbols to appear correctly in the Zimbie or third party IM client chat window. Using ULTiMate

posted on February 5th, 2008 ·

ULTiMate responds to user commands, here is a list and explanation of the commands that can be used;

1. LANGUAGE
Typing “Language” will display your default language as well as supported languages. Your default language can be changed by inputting “Language” followed by the supported language name such as “Language French”.

2. CREATE
This command can be used to create a public chat room. You enter the command followed by a chat room name to create a room. For example “Create myroom” will create a public chat room “myroom”. Upon creation of the room you will be automatically added. Once a room is created other users will be able to view it as well as enter it.

3. CREATE PRIVATE
In other to create a private chat room you enter the command “Create Private myroom”. This will create a private chat room of which you are the administrator thus only allowing you to invite users to join. This private room will not be viewable by any other user.

4. USERS
When you are not in a chat room, typing “Users” will display all the available online users that are not in a room. Alternatively if you are in a chat room and you type “Users”, the users who are currently in that room will be displayed.

5. USERS ALL
Inputting “Users all” will display all the users that are currently online with ULTiMate.

6. USERS RoomName
Typing “USERS” followed by a room name that exist in ULTiMate will return all the users that are currently in that public chat room.

7. USER UserName
Typing “USER” followed by a username that exists in ULTiMate will return information about the user such as name, status / substatus and language.

8. INVITE
To invite a user of ULTiMate to join your chat room type ‘Invite’ followed by the users name in the format of “Invite name@server:XMPP”.

9. ROOMS
When you are not in a chat room you can display all the chat rooms that are available for entry by typing the command “Rooms”.

10. ENTER
In order to enter a chat room you will need to use the command “Enter” followed by the chat room name. For example “Enter myroom”.

11. EXIT
Typing “EXIT myroom” will remove you from the chat room.

12. REVIEW
This command turns on and off review mode. Review mode will display to you the original message as well as that same message translated into your language. For example your language is set to English and the person you are talking to is using French as their language, with review mode turned on you can see “Bonjour” as well as “hello” directly below it. If review mode is turned off you will only see the translated message “hello”.
As well as that you can also see the message to send out to other people translated into their respective language. For example if your language is English and you are talking to a person who has their language set to French, when you send out “Hello” who will see (User translated) Bonjour as well.

Using ULTiMate Phrase Translation
ULTiMate can also operate as a back to back language pair translator when you are not in a chat room.
Type the command “Phrase” followed by the language you wish to translate to, for example “Phrase French” will enable phrase mode to translate from your default language to French.
In order to begin translating simply speak to ULTiMate as though you were speaking to a normal Instant messaging buddy, for example Instant message ULTiMate “Hello” and it will respond with “Bonjour” or to reverse the translation just put a full stop in front of your phrase as follows “.Bonjour” will result in ULTiMate responding with “Hello”. Type “Phrase off” to turn off phrase translation mode.

As Simple As Zimbie.

ULTIMate - Universal Language Translation Instant Messaging Mate

posted on February 4th, 2008 ·

ULTIMate provides Instant Messaging (IM) users with the ability to seamlessly communicate with one another irrespective of their native languages. Parties involved in an IM conversation will be able to send messages in their spoken language and have them instantly translated into the native language of the recipient(s).
End users communicate with an automated Instant Messaging contact on their IM buddy list for phrase translation, and to communicate with parties involved in a real-time multi-protocol, multi-user, multi-language communications session.
ULTIMate is available for download from our site, and by creating a new account group with the Zimbie client and following the on screen instructions (remember to select yes for a bot). If downloaded from the site just import the ULTIMate zipped folder into an IM account created with the Zimbie client and then add this account as a buddy on your main IM account. As well as that why not get your friends to add the buddy to their IM accounts and help spread the ULTIMate word :).
This is currently a beta version, and only a handful of languages have a locale file.
Any and all feedback appreciated.

Multiple Protocol ChatterBot

posted on January 23rd, 2008 ·

Hey Everyone,
Just a reminder about our chatterbot which allows users to create public and private chat rooms and engage in real time instant messaging group chat.
Zimbie supports multiple protocols such as MSN, Jabber and Googletalk which will allow all the users of these different protocols chat with each other when combined with Chatterbot.
Users that use Zimbie as their IM client will be able to avail of our Rhymes interface which allows you to click commands in the chat window with your mouse instead of having to type in a command. For example if somebody using a normal IM client typed the command “users” to see who is online with the chatterbot, a group of names would be returned and the same user would need to type “invite” followed by the username to invite that person into a chat room but with the Zimbie Rhymes interface all you need to do is click the user name to invite that specific user into a chat room.
In order to host the chatterbot simply have the Zimbie client installed on your computer, Have accounts setup that will act as the chatterbot, these accounts will need to be a jabber account, MSN account, Googletalk account or a combination of the three. Now add a new accountgroup to zimbie and follow the on screen instructions in order add a IM account(s) to this group and turn this account group into a bot.
The chatterbot can be downloaded by Zimbie when turning your newly created account into a bot or it is available within the Zimbie install directory under the samples folder on your computer as a zip file. Simply import this zip file into an existing account group with bot mode enabled. Easy to follow instructions can be found from the Zimbie client by clicking on Help-User Guide and following the user manual link. Once you are setup and hosting the bot simply get all your friends to add the bots IM address to their contact list to engage in multiple protocol group conversations.
Hope you try it out and enjoy it.
Best
The Zimbie Team.

New Beta Release of Zimbie

posted on November 21st, 2007 ·

Hi All,

Firstly, thanks to all of you who downloaded the initial beta release of Zimbie and gave us invaluable feedback. Since then we have been busy incorporating these changes and are happy to announce a new beta release which is free to download at www.zimbie.com.

This release incorporates, among other features, MSN support and increases the spread of users who can avail of Zimbie. Also from your comments, we have significantly reduced the size of the download and improved its functionality. Please enjoy and feel free to offer us any feedback you may have.

We are continuing to add features and hope to have a Mac and Linux version available shortly. We also plan to run an RSS BOT service from Zimbie which will allow our users to receive instant alerts from their favourite websites and blogs without downloading the service – just add the RSS Buddy to their contact list. Thanks for your support to date and looking forward to bringing you more Zimbie updates.

MSNP Beta coming Soon

posted on November 6th, 2007 ·

Hi,

We have been a bit quiet lately, busy with coding and testing etc. Well the good news is that hopefully within a few days we will have a download of Zimbie with support for MSN, so you will be able to configure and runs bots over the MSN Protocol. Also this will give you the option of just using zimbie as a chat client with your Google talk/Jabber accounts and your MSN accounts logged in simultaneously.

More on this in a few days…
